Siena, Italy

Piazza Il Campo, location of the famous horse race Il Palio.  The Torre del Mangia clock tower looms.  You can see a stage being constructed.  The night after this there was a classical music concert.  We sat in the piazza with thousands of others and listened into the night while taking sips of wine.

Another attempt to create a panoramic view of Siena and Italy's region known as Tuscany from the top of the tower you saw in the previous picture.

Seems this water-spitting dog is not scary enough to keep pigeons from sitting atop his head.

Siena's duomo is big-time gothic.  The Sienese colors are black and white, and they are heavily used inside and outside this building.  We took an audio guide tour of the inside and enjoyed it.

This was the night of the concert.  You can see the people gathering as well as the glow of the restaurant lights as the sun mercifully sets.  I keep saying that about the sun, but I was sweating like a beast.  You got to believe me.
