Concentration camp in

Mauthausen, Austria

This is the smaller of the two camp ovens. 

I started to write some words about our visit to the camp, but then realized they are inadequate.  Perhaps I will just let the pictures speak for themselves.  

 

 

 Larger oven with some of the memorial plaques on the walls.  Some of the plaques were loving tributes, others lashed out angrily at the Nazis for murdering their loved ones.

 

I'm not sure if these are actual barracks, or replicas.  There are not many left.  Most of them have been destroyed and there are signs stating where they were.  The gray, ominous clouds fit well the mood of the day.
