Here is the reason for our dip back into the US for a visit to an obscure lighthouse on the northern edge of New York:  my dad tended a lighthouse there when he was in the Coast Guard in the early 70's.  Also, yours truly was born in a town near the lighthouse and lived in Cape Vincent, NY until I was about 1.

The fog horns and lighthouse.

 The fog horn building.

Jamie made the pilgrimage to this Osborn-historical place pretty willingly.  I was glad she indulged my idea.

"Circa 1827."

Keeper's house (not where my dad lived.  He lived in the town of Cape Vincent a couple miles away).

You can go in the door to the lighthouse but can not ascend the stairs.

Take a couple video tours of the property here 3.8 MB and here.  2.8 MB

Paint shed and Lake Ontario.

An old sign hanging on a wall in the fog horn shed.

Inside the fog horn shed (all these pics taken through a window as it was closed).

These must provide the air(?) for the fog horn bellow, back when it was used.
