We hit the road on Saturday at 1:00 pm and thought we'd drive half way to the UP of Michigan.  Well, along the way we passed a sign for Stanley, WI.  I thought, wait, isn't my good friend James from Stanley?  Indeed he was, so we made a little stop.

Driving "half way" to the UP of MI turned out to be... what the heck, let's drive ALL THE WAY up there since it was so darn hot that day anyway.  We crashed at a rustic campground in Fox, MI.  Note the New Glarus Uff Da Bock sitting on the picnic table, purchased in Stanley, WI.

After a long, hot, sweaty drive, a dip into Lake Michigan as the sun went down was just the thing to cool us off.

The next day we did not have a very long drive to our first planned stop at Indian Lake State Park, Michigan.  The campground was in Indian Lake, not Great Lake Michigan.  It was very shallow for a long ways out.

The view from our campsite.

Indian Lake State Park had a few miles of walking trails and we checked them out.  You can see the flowers in the picture above that I took a close up picture of below.

These things stood many feet high on a narrow stalk.

We checked out some 'shoes and had some fun.

Ah, hobo dinners.  You know you love them.  If you love them like I do and want to hear them sizzling on the fire, check out this video clip.  450k
